Mountains are special in so many ways. They show us a much bigger world than ourselves. They keep calling and appearing in our dreams. You go there once and you always crave for more. This is why the motorcycle tour to the Himalayas is a mainstay of our calendar.
Upon arriving in Delhi, we take a bus to Manali – a rural enclave nestled at the elevation of about 2,000 m in the state of Himalchal Pradesh. The town's name is derived from the sage Manu who is believed to have stepped off his ark here to recreate human life after a great flood. The landscape lends a lot of credibility to the legend as there are mountains everywhere. This region also borders on Tibet where we are also going for a few days.
Once we receive our Royal Enfield bikes, we embark on a journey round the magnificent Great Himalayan National Park. The Himalayas are the highest mountain range in the world, so our tour of "only" 1,000 km should be enough of a challenge. Be prepared to tackle dirt roads riddled with hairpins, sneak round crumbled rock and cross streams. We are also going to ride over Kunzum pass with the highest point at 4,600 m. Make no mistake: riding 100 km of local roads a day is as tiring as doing 500 km on European tarmac. However, every kilometer of this route is packed with a mix of adrenaline-inducing adventure and spectacular views.
Nothing compares to the majestic Himalayas, and we look forward to taking you there.
